Almost every Tokina 16.5-135 review I read mentioned vignetting, which lead me to believe that this is a bit of an issue with this lens. This phenomenon is also called “light falloff” or, in layman’s terms, darkened corners. It apparently quite a feat for a lens manufacturer to eliminate vignetting in the images the lens produces. Most wide angle lenses do show some vignetting at its widest setting. In the Tokina’s case, you will also see the vignetting, but only at its zoom extremes. A bigger issue I have detected with this lens is that there is quite a bit of exposure variation when changing to different focal length and aperture settings. I have done a test throughout the focal range, and have found that the exposure varies with every frame, making it very hard to get the exposure right with this lens. Although this is a decent lens, you should watch out for vignetting.
