I Got My Teeth Fixed Before I Went to Africa
I had a horrible experience with my dental implant. My husband is a biologist, and quite often he has to travel to different countries to do work and research. I am a science teacher, so over the summer I usually try to travel with my husband if he goes anywhere exotic. Last summer my husband was going to travel to Tanzania to study wildlife for two months. I had never traveled to Tanzania before, so I really wanted to go. On my last day of school I could hardly wait to leave, because I knew that the very next day my husband and I were going to be traveling to Tanzania, so I was so excited. I got home and I packed up all of my things , and my husband and I went to sleep early, because we were going to have to take a fight in the morning to catch the plane to Ethiopia, and after we got there we were going to catch a flight to Tanzania.
The next morning I woke up and I had the strangest thing happen. About four years ago I had to get dental implants, because I was hit by a baseball in my front three teeth, and they were knocked out. My tooth implants were permanent, so I never thought that anything wrong was going to happen to them. That morning right before our early flight to Tanzania, my dental implant fell out. I had no idea what to do, because that had never happened to me before. My husband asked me what did I want to do, and of course I wanted to still go to Tanzania, but I knew that if I got there, no one was going to be able to fix my teeth. I told my husband to go ahead and travel without me, and that very morning I made an appointment to go and see my dentist.
My dentist was very kind, he told me that there was actually a problem that I was having with my gums. He took some x-rays on my teeth and gums, and I knew that I was going to have to stay home for a little bit more time. It took me about two weeks to get everything fixed, my dentist gave me some medication for my gum disease, and after that he was finally able to reinstall my teeth implants. After everything was fixed, I called my husband to have him buy me a ticket to go and see him in Tanzania.
I was not really happy about having to fly by myself, but the prospects of being able to stay in Tanzania made me get over my fear of flying. It was a very long flight Ethiopia, but when I got off the plane, I was amazed by all the beauty of the country. Five hours after I landed in Ethiopia I was able to reunite with my husband, and I had my beautiful new teeth. I never knew that a little problem with dental implants could be so annoying, but I’m happy that I was able to get everything fixed before I went to Africa.
